Terms of service — Beta.
Last updated: 2026-10-10
Oreumics is in beta. Final commercial Terms — including subscription clauses, refund policy, auto-renewal, and the governing-law jurisdiction — will be published before general availability. Until then, the rules below apply.
These Terms govern your use of the Oreumics desktop application (the “App”), this website, and any associated services (together, the “Service”) during the beta period. By creating an account or installing the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service is operated by JJLAB (“we,” “us”).
1. Beta status — please read
Oreumics is currently in beta (the current beta release). The App is functional and used in real research, but you should expect:
- Bugs, regressions, and breaking changes between releases.
- Numerical results that may shift slightly between versions as we upgrade Scanpy, Squidpy, scVelo, CellRank, pyDESeq2, and other underlying tools.
- Features that may be added, removed, or renamed at any time.
- The Beta Access ticket and the rules that govern it may change as we approach general availability.
You are responsible for independently validating any analysis result before using it for publication, clinical decisions, regulatory filings, or any other consequential purpose. Always cross-check with the underlying tool's canonical command-line interface when something matters.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. The Service is for researchers and other adult professionals.
- You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account.
- Each account is for a single individual. Sharing accounts across multiple researchers is not permitted.
- Provide accurate signup information (name, institution, role). We use this primarily to evaluate Beta Access ticket requests.
3. License to use the App
Subject to these Terms and your active access tier, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, for the purpose of analyzing biological data.
Access (during the beta)
- Beta Access — admin-issued, free, time-limited ticket (typically 7, 14, or 30 days) granting the full feature set. Granted at our discretion based on your request via the contact form. One signed-in device per account.
The single-device rule is enforced via device_id + session checks. Signing in on a new device will sign out the previous one.
What you may NOT do
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except where this restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
- Remove or obscure copyright notices, trademarks, or attribution to the underlying open-source tools.
- Resell, sublicense, rent, or redistribute the App, your account, or your Beta Access ticket.
- Use the Service for unlawful purposes or to process data you do not have a legal right to process.
- Use the Service to generate or distribute malware, phishing content, or deliberately misleading scientific output.
Both academic and commercial use are permitted with Beta Access during the beta.
4. Beta Access tickets
Beta Access tickets are free and issued manually by our team after reviewing your request via the contact form.
- Tickets are non-transferable and bound to a single account.
- Each ticket grants access for a fixed duration (typically 7, 14, or 30 days) from the time of redemption.
- Tickets have no cash value, are not refundable, and may be revoked if used in violation of these Terms.
- After expiry, app access ends until a new ticket is redeemed. You may request a new ticket at any time.
- We do not guarantee that a ticket will be issued or renewed; requests are reviewed on a per-case basis.
Paid plans (Individual, Lab, Enterprise) are not active during the beta. They will launch after general availability and active beta users will be notified by email at least 30 days before any plan is introduced.
5. Intellectual property
Our IP
The App, the website, the Oreumics brand, and all original code and content are owned by JJLAB and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Open-source components remain governed by their own licenses (Scanpy, Squidpy, scVelo, CellRank, pyDESeq2, gseapy, CellPhoneDB, methylprep, and others).
Your data and your outputs
You retain full ownership of your input data, your workflows, and the analysis outputs the App produces from them. We do not claim any rights over your raw sequencing data, your AnnData objects, your figures, your reports, or the intellectual property of your experiments. This is essential for academic users — your discoveries belong to you and your institution. The App processes your data locally on your Windows machine; nothing you load is uploaded to us (see the Privacy Policy).
Citation
When Oreumics is used in published research, please:
- Cite the underlying tools (Scanpy, Squidpy, scVelo, CellRank, pyDESeq2, gseapy, methylprep, etc.) according to each tool's own citation policy. The App does not replace those citations.
- Cite Oreumics for the workflow layer itself. A canonical citation will be made available on the website.
6. AI-generated content (Action Plans, Reports, Chat)
The App offers AI-assisted features — the AI Chat panel, the Action Plan generator, and the automated Report writer. These features generate suggestions, drafts, and summaries that are based on a large-language-model interpretation of your workflow. They run against the LLM provider you configure (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini) with your own API key; that provider's terms govern those calls, and Oreumics neither resells nor marks up model usage. The App sends prompts and workflow summaries, never your raw expression matrices.
- AI output may be incomplete, outdated, or simply wrong. It is not a substitute for expert judgement.
- Always verify AI-generated text, parameter recommendations, and statistical claims before publication or any consequential decision.
- Reports generated by the App may include AI-written narrative; you are responsible for reading, correcting, and standing behind anything you put your name to.
See the Privacy Policy, section 3, for what is sent to the LLM provider when you use AI Chat.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or scientifically correct in any specific case.
The Service is not a medical device and must not be used to make diagnostic or treatment decisions for individual patients.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will we, our affiliates, or our suppliers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, lost research time, or lost publications — arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Because the Service is provided free of charge during the beta, our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these Terms is limited to US$50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain damages; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited by law.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim arising out of (a) your use of the Service in violation of these Terms, (b) data you process through the App that you did not have the right to process, or (c) your unlawful use of the outputs the App produces for you.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access (including revoking an active Beta Access ticket) if you breach these Terms or if we are required to do so by law. Upon termination, your license to use the App ends immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive (IP ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, governing law) will survive.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. For material changes — including the introduction of paid plans after the beta — we will notify active users by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing law and disputes
The governing-law jurisdiction for the Service has not yet been finalised. We will publish the final commercial Terms — including the governing law, exclusive forum, and consumer-law carve-outs — before Oreumics exits beta.
In the meantime, please contact us first at imza.kim@jejunu.ac.kr before filing any formal action — we want to resolve issues directly with beta users.
13. Contact
Questions about these Terms: imza.kim@jejunu.ac.kr
Product support and bug reports: use the contact form — during the beta we reply within 2 business days.
See also: the Privacy Policy, the About page, and the FAQ.
In one paragraph: during the beta we license you a copy of Oreumics for free (via an admin-issued Beta Access ticket); you keep ownership of your data and your results; the software is in beta so validate your analyses; please cite the underlying scientific tools alongside Oreumics when you publish.
Effective 2026-10-10.
